This 2023 Prize-winning Shui Xian comes from a different factory than the 2020 version. It is not a continuation of the previous production but instead upholds the same excellence while offering delightful new surprises.
This impeccable Shui Xian is harvested from a plantation over 40 years old, which almost qualifies as Gao Cong Shui Xian based on the age of the tea trees. This tea has won multiple awards in various competitions, including the Medal of Excellence at the Tian Xin Village Competition as early as in 2012 and, most recently, First Prize at the Wuyi Tea Bureau Competition in 2022, among others. Recognizing its potential, the farmer decided several years ago to stop pruning the plantation, allowing the tea trees to grow into tall arbors with the purpose of fully meeting the criteria of Gao Cong Shui Xian in the future.
This tea is included in the value options of Shui Xian Parties.
(Updated in Nov 2024.)
We proudly launch this tea for our beloved tea drinkers. Each year there are hundreds of tea competitions in Wuyi mountain. The official competition celebrated by the agricultural bureau of the city is one of the most prestigious, and in 2020, this tea won the grand prize.
Our 2020 Prize-winning Shui Xian is slowly roasted over a charcoal fire at a low heat and possesses evident characteristics of the varietal. From the moment the dry tea leaves are placed into the pre-heated Gaiwan, the aroma develops becoming floral and complex. Once activated by boiling water, the clear orchid note is highlighted on the lid of Gaiwan, as well as in the tea soup. The tea soup is distinctive, elegant, and with a notable sweetness. Due to the high extraction rate of this tea, the first four or five infusions are outstanding even with a very quick pour-out, the tea soup then begins to mellow but still gives excellent flavours when the steeping time is increased.
