Bei Dou is a rare varietal created by cuttage propagation in the 60’s. The name comes from the place where it was first planted, Bei Dou peak. Bei Dou was once mistaken for the second generation of Da Hong Pao until identified in 2009 by genotype technology, though, which doesn’t prevent it from being an excellent varietal.
Bei Dou commonly doesn't highlight neither floral nor fruity scents that some tea drinkers even think that it is short of aroma, however the charm of Bei Dou consists in its woody scent and in the flavorful tea soup. Following the typical characters of the varietal, our 2020 Bei Dou has a mellow and lingering woody aroma, mixed together with a warming charcoal fire aroma, nothing is complicated or noisy. The tea soup is thick but not overpowering, smooth and creamy, leaving a sweet aftertaste Huigan in the mouth.
