When a Dian Hong is named Gu Shu Hong, it does not always (and mostly not) mean it is made from Gushu material. The concept is often used to differentiate the material of big trees and wild trees from that of the pruned modern plantation. This tea is the case, actually it is made from big tree (Qiaomu) material, but not from real Gushu. In addition, this tea is sun-dried, rather than the more common oven-dried or hot air-dried.
These huge leaves bring out brighten golden liquor, with plenty of fruity scents, especially citrus fruits, as well as a touch of citrus-like sour flavor in the lingering sweetness, pretty refreshing and comforting. Of course, the typical honey notes that can be found often in Dian Hong are both in the wet leaves and in the liquor.
