Yunnan is such a tea trove. In addition to a wide variety of teas crafted using different methods, it abounds with innumerable tea tree species, among which wild tree is a special existence. When discussing wild tea trees, it often implies two different types. The first type is a term for domesticated cultivars (mostly Gushu) found in deserted plantations, with little or no human intervention. The other type refers to real wild species in the forests, some of which are inedible and/or non-sinensis (but always belong to the Camellia family). This 2023 Lincang Wild Tree White Tea falls into the latter category, being made from edible wild species and containing a small amount of non-sinensis materials, which adds an exotic touch to its pleasant flavor profile.
This tea reminds of the refreshing wild forest, with citrus fruit notes and vegetal hints present in both the taste and aroma, with delicate sweetness in each sip and in the aftertaste, distinguishing itself from any white tea from Fujian and those common white teas from Yunnan.
