This tea was accidentally preserved, as it was not common to age black tea intentionally in those days. It was a highly aromatic tea with pronounced sweetness and fresh, intense flavors that we still remember vividly. We purchased a good quantity for its excellence and forgot about it; then, we had a delightful surprise when rediscovering it in the storage after more than a decade. Unfortunately, we did not document the details of this tea; we only recall that it was a Yunnan tea acquired in 2012. The production would be from the same year or a year prior, and the harvest clearly came from old trees, as only those could offer such complex and profound flavors. Thanks to the rich gustatory substances in the large-leaf varietal of Yunnan, this black tea has been aged without losing its intensity, resulting in an impressive flavor profile very different from what it once was.
This tea has aged excellently. While the once-present floral fragrance has mostly faded, it now features a clean aging aroma and plenty of mature fruit notes. It provides a tasty liquor with intense flavors and an extremely smooth texture. Most amazingly, there are noticeable brown sugar notes in both the flavors and aromas, making it unique and special among other Dian Hong teas, whether fresh or aged ones.
