Bada mountain is one of the six famous tea mountains in the south Lancang River area. This remote tea mountain is teeming with wild tea tree communities and ancient tea cultivations and is also famous for the 1700-year-old wild tea tree discovered in 1961, standing at 34m high, with a trunk circumference of 3.8m and a diameter of almost 1m. All the villages on Bada mountain are at an altitude greater than 1000m, like Zhanglang village at 1600m, and Hesong village at 1900m. The forests are surrounded by cloud and fog all year round, where the ecological environment (temperature, rainfall and soil etc.) is excellent for the growth of tea trees, creating the unique characteristics of the area’s tea. Puerh from Bada is often considered medium bodied, with distinctive regional aromas, longer lasting bitterness and less astringency.

Our 2011 Bada Gushu Raw/Sheng Puerh has all the typical features of Bada mountain. The brilliant tea soup is not full bodied but certainly not watery either, with moderate bitterness accompanied by subtle sweetness, evolving with each infusion and featuring quickly a clear Huigan. The complex flavour continuous into the 6th or 7th infusion then a woody scent comes out. Aging aroma, mineral, roasted nuts note, all the fragrances are peaceful.

To compare this tea with an ealier verion, 2003 Bada is available on our website.
